We’ve compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). If you have a question that doesn’t appear below, please email us by clicking on the green envelope to your right under Get Connected with OMP. We will add your Q&A on this list.
Why do I need to get organized?
Bottom Line: Organized people save time and money and reduce stress and frustration levels.
What is the best way to get organized?
There are no “cookie cutter” solutions. Because people have many different personality types, work styles, and environmental influences, what may work for one person may not work for the other. OMP will help you identify the areas in which you want and need to improve, such as filing, clutter control, storage space, or juggling projects and priorities. Subscribe to our newsletter for tips on how to get and stay organized.
How long does it take to get organized?
Organization is a process, not a task achieved in one day. Think about it as “being organized” or “staying organized,” not just “getting organized.” Yes, an organizing system can be set up in a matter of hours. The challenge, however, is to continuously maintain and improve it day by day. The good news is, once you learn good systems, habits, and tools; being organized gets easier, as does bouncing back from an unexpected detour or period of feeling overwhelmed.
How can a professional organizer help me?
A professional organizer can help you achieve and maintain order and the peace of mind that comes with it. OMP will bring our expertise and an objective eye to your situation, and will help guide you to discard unwanted objects that are cluttering your life. By hiring a professional organizer, you’re making a commitment to work toward creating the environment you yearn to live in.
Will I have to throw away my things?
Anything you discard will be your decision alone. My team members never throw anything away without permission. If clutter is a problem in your home, you’ll almost certainly need to part with unneeded or unwanted items in order to attain your goals. OMP will help you identify those items and guide you in your decision making. But we won’t make you get rid of anything. We will praise you on as you decide to give up things that no longer have meaning or value for you.
If I hire OMP, how long will it take on the organizing day(s)?
Each job is customized to your needs and abilities. It’s also dependent on the size and scope of the job, how quickly you make decisions about thinning out your belongings, and whether you are working along with the team or not. If you’re willing and able to do homework between sessions the process will go faster.
How much will it cost?
OMP cannot quote total prices for a project because each client’s needs are different. Our hourly rate and packages can be found under here. To get a free assessment and quote, please call us to set up an appointment today.
Is it worth the money?
When you hire a professional organizer, you make an investment in your future. Being disorganized is expensive. It hampers your productivity and costs you time when you can’t find what you’re looking for. Just think what you could do with the time you now spend dealing with your stuff. If you’re disorganized in paying your bills, you might be paying late charges and higher-than-necessary interest rates on credit cards. Freeing your time and your mind by overcoming your barriers to getting and staying organized can pay dividends you can’t even anticipate now. We can help you get there.
Will I stay organized?
OMP will work with you to establish organizing systems customized to the way you think and live and will teach you the skills needed to maintain order. We can also work with you to create new habits to set you up for success. Setting up quarterly or bi-annual maintenance appointments with OMP can assist with helping keep you motivated and on tract.
Should I tidy my house before you come in?
Please don’t! We will want to see the full extent of any disorder in your home and get a chance to see how you live with it. It’s important that we see the piles that habitually appear, so we can figure out how to make them disappear and stay away. Piles provide valuable clues!
Is our work together confidential?
Absolutely! OMP recognize that clutter and disorder are personal and respect each client’s privacy. We hire top professionals that are required to adhere to the National Association of Professional Organizers’ Code of Ethics; which stipulate client confidentiality. Please view our Terms & Conditions here.
Will I have to buy new furniture or a lot of organizing products?
Not necessarily. OMP will strive to use items you already own. You may need to purchase some organizing supplies. If storage is an issue for you, some types of furniture or shelving may be necessary. Of course whether or not to purchase items will be completely up to you. OMP will assist you with these purchases if you choose to go this route.
